The 37th SAMS National masters long course championship will be held from 9 to 13 of March 2022 at
the University of the Western Cape Pool in Cape Town.

Dear Masters Swimmer, Official, Support Staff and Vendor,

Re: Entry Process onto UWC Campus for the 37th SA Masters Swimming Championships

As the owner or lessee of the property, the University of Western Cape has the right to control access to its property.  Its access policy is clear and rationally applied to all Staff, Students and Visitors.

  1. Access onto campus is at the following gates:
    1. Main security gate in Robert Sobukwe Road
    2. Secondary security gate on Symphony Way
    3. Contractor’s security gate on Symphony Way (This is for all vendors with trailers).
  2. Everyone entering campus will need have ready at the Security Entrances:
  1. Proof of ID either ID Document or Drivers Licence or Passport
  2. Vaccination Card or Certificate. Either Digital Certificate or SA Card or International card.

To prevent unnecessary delays please have them ready.

  1. Swimmers who have Comorbidities and have Specialist Doctors letter confirming they may not be vaccinated will be allowed onto campus provide they have applied for and received written confirmation that their application for vaccination exemption has been approved.

  1. The busiest time at the Security Gates is 07h30 to 10h30.
    1. Swimmers, Officials and Support Staff should allow at least an extra 30 minutes wait during this period.
    2. Swimmers, Officials and Support Staff are encouraged to arrive before 07h30 or after 10h30.
  2. Everyone involved in the event will be issued with dog tags.  See attached example.

This will enable campus security and campus traffic to identify those who are involved in the SA Masters Swimming Championships.

  1. All Support Staff need to preregister with their names and contact details the day before visiting campus.

UWC Venue Management and Security have access to this Google Sheet listing extra visitors coming onto campus.

  1. On Tuesday 8th March those involved in the competition will be allowed to visit the Aquatic Centre between 11h00 and 16h00.  Swimmers will be allowed to train in the pool.

  1. UWC Security / Traffic will provide staff to indicate Parking for:
    1. Officials (entrance on North of Aquatic Centre) See attached Map
    2. VIP and remaining Officials on Premixed parking at the Aquatic Centre Entrance.

Please allow the yellow bays for 90 years old swimmers.

  1. Secure Parking on the gravel parking area opposite the Aquatic Centre Entrance
  2. A3 Sign Posts will be erected for the parking areas and entrance to The Aquatic Centre
  3. While on UWC Campus All Competitors, Officials and Support Staff are to adhere to UWC Covid protocols regarding masks, social distancing and sanitising.

The UWC Venue, Security and Traffic Staff have been extremely helpful in arranging for the smooth running of this Masters Swimming Championships.
