Hi folks

It is with great pleasure and pride that we are able to circulate these attachments which reflect the sequence of events for

the entire season. We offer a  big thanks to Heather Campbell and Nicola Martins for their contribution in arranging this

program. This is an 10 event program which caters for both long distance and short course events and at some point in the

season a member can tackle every event at least once, both for SC and LC, in order to attempt records, albeit KZN, SAMS,

Worlds or SAQT.

The principal benefits of this approach, which incorporates several other critical timing changes, are as follows:

1.       Members can plan their entire season to either attempt records or, equally importantly, ensure that they meet the

qualification requirements to attend the following Championships:

a) KZN – at least one prior gala attendance

b) SA – attendance at KZN Championships

NB This qualification rule will be strictly enforced by Clubs and monitored closely by KZN. Only in exceptional

circumstances, such as offshore members and special cases, will exceptions be entertained with a written

     application to KZN.

2.       To assist members to achieve the above, and to address concerns about galas only being arranged on Sundays,

several alternative days have been offered for such members to attend along with our other regular galas:

a)      Wednesday 30/11/11 at 1830 SC – special sprint gala with all distances covered from 25m to 100m in all strokes.

b)      Saturday 7/01/12 at 1600 LC – special long distance gala with three events, namely 1500, 800m and 400 freestyle.

Note – There is still the Saturday portion of the KZN Champs too.

3.       To enable club teams to attempt SA and World records, several galas have included 4*50 relay events in both freestyle

and medley disciplines, namely:

a) Sunday 13/11/11 LC

b) Sunday  15/01/12 SC

c) Saturday 4/02/12 LC

d)Sunday 5/02/12 LC

This is important for the best possible team to attempt records as teams are often chosen at Nationals to balance ages

to ensure that the maximum team points are attained as opposed to achieving the best time performances.

We sincerely hope that we have addressed all the points raised about galas during the past few years!

The KZN Masters Swimming Committee wish you a successful season with lots of personal achievements.

Best regards
